Wahnapitae First Nation is a developing community with a rich history and a strong cultural identity originating from its people and natural environment. The community offers a rich combination of assets that will appeal to many tourists and also speak to potential businesses or families looking to return to their First Nation community.
Located on the north shores of Lake Wahnapitei, Wahnapitae First Nation is a signatory of the Robinson-Huron Treaty (1850) and an Ojibway community of the Anishinabek Nation. Our traditional name is Wahnapitaeping "That place where the water is shaped like a molar tooth". The community has a land base of 3.2 km X 3.2 km and is accessible by road all year.
